Domestic design notes for rooms that are lived in, not staged

Our perspective

Why We Keep Things

An independent journal for homes with history in them.

What we believe

Plimaroreetrove began with a simple observation: the rooms people love most are rarely the most expensive. They are the ones where a chair has been reglued twice, a bowl came from a holiday decades ago and the colours were chosen to suit a favourite rug.

We write for home decorators who want character rather than a period set. We value repair over replacement, gradual change over sudden makeovers and comfort over perfect matching.

How we work

  • Independent: we are not affiliated with any manufacturer, retailer or auction house mentioned on this site, and we do not accept payment for coverage.
  • Practical: our guidance favours low-risk, reversible steps that most people can try at home.
  • Honest: makeover stories are composites based on common reader projects, and we say so.
  • Careful: where safety or value is at stake, we recommend seeking a qualified professional.

Our content is general information, not professional valuation, conservation or safety advice. Spotted something we could improve? Get in touch.
